Conviction is just straight up not a Splinter Cell game so I don’t play it as such. As a result, I actually prefer playing Conviction more. It’s just a shame the core gameplay feels off to me, a lot of due to Blacklist still carrying Conviction’s core design which was very, very different to classic Splinter Cell. It still gives you the most points for ghosting, as it should, but it acknowledges lethal stealth and combat points too. Whereas Chaos Theory grades you solely on stealth, making the lethal playthroughs and loadouts pointless, Blacklist does have points for different play styles and you’re rewarded for each of them.

I like having side missions and unlockables like new guns, suits, etc. I like choosing my gadgets in particular (seriously, being able to carry a few extra smoke grenades instead of some flash bangs I never use in the Bathhouse level would be a godsend). I like the ability to choose my loadout in more detail than just having three presets. Blacklist-style gameplay could work well a open world.īlacklist does have a lot of features that I think would be natural improvements to Chaos Theory. Anyway, reckon you can’t step in the same river twice. It also feels like perhaps with Ubisoft, they have found a formula, maybe to save money □□♂️, or maybe are building to a MMO model. Characters and stories feel rushed in, I guess a attempt to get more quantity. The biggest thing with Ubisoft over the last 5-7 years is the story telling has really gone down hill. In some ways things are different in great way, and others not so much.

SPLINTER CELL BLACKLIST GONE DARK PLUS
But some of these older IP seem not to be aging well either- some of it though feels like the current developers are a different class of characters, plus they were influenced by different works of art. So these publishers cater to the majority, which is understandable- it’s a business. Now unfortunately, it does seem with the advent of smart phones- peoples attention is shorter. What was once a small niche group has grown.
